MDHC Building Progress
HDR Architecture and their team of consultants have completed the Design Development stage of the design process. This stage of project development provides for the refinement of the design concepts established in previous design stages. This is the point where the architectural and structural aspects of the project are firmly defined and the development of building systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning and lighting and electrical distribution are underway. Cost estimates are under evaluation to confirm budgetary limits, established the expected level of quality as well as ensure value is commensurate with expectations. To achieve this milestone, the design team has engaged with the Marion Downs Hearing Institute staff and users of this facility to understand their specific needs, to obtain input related to space configuration, adjacencies of rooms and functions, and to review of the function and operational aspects of all the individual spaces.
As a member of the University of Colorado Hospital and a facility within the University of Colorado's province, this project was subject to design review by the University's Design Review Board. To date, this project has received an enthusiastic Schematic Design approval with the Design Review Board members commending the class and vision of the architectural design, a design befitting the gateway to the University of Colorado Hospital campus.
