Teen Volunteer Service
Teenagers who volunteer can learn valuable skills, gain work experience, and network with professionals for future employment opportunities and references. However, teenagers who are deaf or hard of hearing are sometimes faced with a communication barrier which makes it more difficult to secure a meaningful volunteer position.
The Marion Downs Hearing Center programs and services are housed in two locations: a medical clinic in the University of Colorado Hospital and an administrative office building across the street from the hospital. We can provide teenagers with volunteer opportunities in both locations. Volunteer projects can include:
- General administrative office work
- Filing and organizing medical files in the clinic
- Event planning and implementation
- Research
- Fundraising
Projects are designed based on our needs and each volunteer's skills. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or intern, please visit our Volunteer page and follow the steps to apply.
Due to the amount of time we invest in training each volunteer, we ask for a minimum 6-month commitment. We cannot provide a reference for olunteers who resign before 6 months of service.
